A Simple Gaff
I've never seen one but here's how I made mine. It's effective, cheap and comfortable for long wear.

Materials

  • Swimsuit Fabric (I've forgotten it's real name)
  • Velcro (1 to 2 inches wide)
  • 2 Plastic Rings (0.5 inch diameter)
  • Soft Cording (At least a yard)
Assembly
  • Use zig-zag or stretch stitches since the stitches need to stretch with the fabric.
  • Cut out a rectangle of fabric about 1.5 inches by 4 or 5 inches such that the fabric stretches along the longer dimension. Your measurements may vary.
  • Fold over the edges and stitch along them to keep the fabric from unraveling.
  • On one side sew a patch of velcro (the hook piece)
  • On the other side at the other end sew a larger patch of velcro (the fuzzy peice).
  • To that same side, in the middle of one edge sew one of the plastic rings.
  • Loop the soft cording through the plastic ring and you're done.
  • Making a gaff

    Fitting
  • Hold the gaff so the plastic ring is facing the floor and along the edge furthest from you.
  • Wrap the gaff and fasten shut with the velcro at the top.
  • Push the testes up into the retracted position
  • Thread the cord between the legs, up the back and around the waist. The cord need not be pulled tight, just barely snug.
  • Tie as appropriate.
  • A second plastic ring placed on the cord can be helpful for keeping the two pieces of cording together until they're parted at the back.
